In 2020, John Dixon, after decades hauling cattle, bought a used backhoe to help with fire and flood cleanup. While clearing a local rancher’s land, he noticed the property was full of natural rock. That observation became a business idea: crush and sell the rock while helping the rancher reclaim pastureland. 

The demand was there, booming Phoenix-area construction needed aggregate material. But starting a crushing operation required more than grit. John needed excavators, loaders, crushers, screens, and trucks. That’s when he connected with a CCG sales rep who had years of experience in the crushing equipment industry.

In four years, Dixon Rock & Materials has grown to a multi-million-dollar company, with 21 employees and dozens of machines. As they’ve added equipment, they’ve more products and additional services to their offerings. They provide A/B rock, rip rap, decorative stone, sand, and more to construction companies and landscapers throughout Arizona. And with the addition of the dump trucks, they now offer delivery.

The business has created jobs and is helping companies across Arizona build the infrastructure needed to support population growth around Phoenix.
